“I want you to walk into the fields… I want you to fill your hands with mud, like a blessing.” Mary Oliver
This retreat is a deep dive into nature - into the nature of our bodies, and the nature that surrounds us - elemental, physical, connected. We will hike, visit the sea, meditate with the sun, flow like water and dance into space. Expect a weekend of connection to your own physicality and the healing, calming and expansive possibilities that time in the natural world can provide. You will return warmed by the sun, cooled by the water, connected to your body, your heart and the space to be and feel you.
Morning practices will explore connections to the earth and space, embody our bones and muscles in unique ways, and incorporate exercises and imagery that you can weave into your home practice and life. Days will involve walks, meditations, time for massage and sound healing, reflections, nourishing food, and loving company. Evenings will involve relaxation practices, hot tub bathing, and time for rest.
Your retreat guide for the weekend will be the deeply wise and insightful Mollie McClelland Morris. Having taught yoga for more than 17 years, Mollie’s teaching unites the beauty and wisdom of yoga with embodied self-inquiry, physical challenge, sensitivity and fun. A lifelong (formerly professional) dancer, Franklin Method educator, mother, and yoga teacher, mentor and teacher trainer immersed in a variety of styles, Mollie incorporates her diverse influences into personal practices that gracefully navigate the challenges of daily life. She shares practical embodiment experiences in classes, courses and events that are innovative, informative and uplifting, with intention to create peacefulness within, in families and in our world.
This retreat will be held at Maison Fish DEVON, a treasure chest of a farmhouse in the middle of Exmoor National Park. You can expect rolling hills, forests of whispering trees and meandering rivers for us to splash in. Our farmhouse is a premium property, with wooden floors and open fire places. We’ll take our yoga in a converted barn, soak in our Five Elements hot tub under the galaxy, and take a plunge in either the slate swimming pool or private lake. Maison Fish Devon is our home away from home, and we just love watching people's jaws drop when they walk through the door.
Our live in chef will make sure we are all nourished deep down into our cells. Our menu is based around whole foods that taste amazingly good. This will be a heart feast of a vegetarian retreat, and any vegans and dietary requests warmly welcomed. All of our ingredients are sourced freshly from local suppliers, and our eggs from the chickens in the field next door. Our chef will work in an open plan kitchen, and is happy to talk you through her recipes so you can go home with some new health food pointers and inspiration. We believe in not only serving a healthy menu, but also providing an education in how you can re-create it at home.
